The fabrics are permanently treated with chemicals that extinguishes flames and help char the fabric. However, the clothing is NOT flame proof. Carhartt® FR is guaranteed to be flame-resistant for the useful life of the garment, regardless of the number of washings, provided the care instructions are followed.
