A native of Denver’s west side, Larry has owned Arvada Army Navy Surplus since 1982. When he’s not at the store, you can usually find Larry reading books on military history. Of course his favorite product is military surplus.
Steven grew up in east Denver and joined his father’s business in 2013 after enjoying a 10-year career in NYC as a professional guitarist. As co-owner, he wears many hats including general merchandise planning, but his favorite role is Knife Buyer. He’s amazed at the constant innovation of such an old idea and likes that many knives are still made in the USA. Like many Denverites, he loves having quick access to the mountains for skiing/camping plus combined with the great culture in the city. Favorite Vacation: It’s a tie between hiking Macchu Picchu in Peru and hiking through most of Israel.
Earl joined Arvada Surplus in 2012 and is the Footwear Buyer/Department Manager. He’s also a native (from Littleton) and loves that Colorado has all four seasons…often in the same week! It’s no surprise that his favorite merchandise in the store are the high quality boots and he loves providing top-notch service to his customers. Outside of work, Earl enjoys fly fishing and playing piano. Song that Best Describes Him: “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Since coming aboard in early 2018, Benson has quickly become a key member of the team serving as Asst. Manager of Footwear and Manager of the Sock and Tarps/Rope departments. He’s also a big fan of boots and says you can never have too many pairs. Benson grew up in Arvada and loves all aspects of the outdoors. In fact, his favorite vacation memory as a kid is an RV trip to Yellowstone National Park with his family. Favorite Hobby: Practicing martial arts.
Jim began working at the store in 2014 and currently serves as a cashier, fishing expert and glove maven. He’s an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, gardening and cooking, and says the wide selection of Lodge cookware are some of his favorite items in the store. Favorite Vacation: Hawaii with his wife and two sons.
Chris is the Military Buyer and has been with Arvada Surplus since 2001. While she loves to shop the women’s clothes at the store, her #1 pick in the military department is the Fox Field Operator Pack. In her free time, Chris likes to engage in a little “dirt therapy” (a.k.a. gardening). Song that Best Describes Her: “Leather and Lace” by Stevie Nicks and Don Henley.
